Harvey “Talaga” Lesa - Youth Transport Assistant Associate - New Start Transports
I have worked with youth throughout my adult life, but most recently in the last five years in both adolescent group homes as well as church youth programs. I began working in group homes because I saw the need that many adolescents have at such a critical time in their lives. I felt like I could make a difference. During my experiences, I learned to work well with various educational and health-care professionals to promote healthy lifestyles and continuing education for youth. Additionally, I have received and participated in various types of training in regards to adolescent youth and their development.
As I mentioned before, I believe that adolescence is such a crucial time period in a young person’s life. They need constant guidance and direction and we need to ensure that they have good role models and adequate social support. I have chose to work with youth because I feel that I can provide good direction and guidance as long as I am living my life right and striving to be the best person that I can be. I am currently in the process of obtaining an Associate of Science Degree through Utah Valley State College, after which I will continue on toward a Bachelor of Science. I am currently 29 years old and have been trained in NCI, First Aid, and CPR. My hope is to have a career in the health-care field. I have also been involved in athletics, playing on various sports teams in high school and college. I have been a professional golfer since I was 18 years-old, and hope to be able to continue that endeavor, as well. My wife, Nathele, and I have been married for over two years, and we have a 15-month old son, Matthias.
Working with New Start Transports has been a great experience thus far. I have seen the wonderful program that they have and the great care that they take in dealing with youth and their families. As the company name suggests, New Start has a strong desire to assist youth and their families to have a new start in life. That is my desire, as well, and I look forward to working with New Start and your child.
