Comfort and Confidence During a Moment of Potential Family Crisis and Fear
New Start Transports offers the highest level of comfort and confidence to families and teens during a time of potential crisis and fear. Our teen transport service recognizes the value and importance of our service to the families and teens we serve. Many of the teens we work with would not cooperate safely if their parents attempted to transport their teen alone. The use of a professional teen transport service, allows outside intervention and support that is not involved personally or emotionally in the current family situation. This alone, can often be the best aspect of using a professionally licensed and insured teen transport service. Here are some ways that New Start Transports offers the highest level of comfort and confidence during the teen transport, a potential time of crisis and fear of both the family and teen.
- We always provide two teen transport associates. This is a mandate company requirement. This allows our transport associates to intervene with the at-risk teen as a team and allows a more professional and non-personal approach to the teen.
- All of our teen transport associates have been trained in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention. This is a crisis prevention program that focuses on the care, welfare, safety, and security of all present in a potential crisis situation.
- It is not in our standard transport procedures to use any form of mechanical restraints including but not limited to handcuffs, zip ties, and others. If a parent feels that our youth transport associates need to have mechanical restraints available at the time of intervention, please mention this to the intake coordinator to discuss this option further. We have found that some uses of mechanical restraints may not be ethical or covered by transport insurance companies. If a teen physically acts out or attempts to run, we want to be able to provide de-escalation techniques that require the energy and effort of our transport staff first and then only consider the use of restraint if safety requires us to do so.
- Our teen transport associates are not law enforcement representatives at the time of pick up. We also do not present ourselves as such. While some of our associates may have law enforcement backgrounds, New Start Transports is not a law enforcement agency. Thus, we do not carry badges similar to law enforcement, handcuffs in cases on belt, or any other form of law enforcement appearance. Our staff may have New Start Transport identification cards and may be wearing a company shirt with the New Start Transports logo.
- We follow our principles of integrity, compassion, and respect when providing teen intervention and transport. We do not in any way use law enforcement tactics or approaches with the teens we intervene with. We rely on our communication skills, rapport building, training, experience, and the sincere care we have with each teen and situation.
- Our teen transport lead associate and intake office will stay in touch with the parents throughout the entire transport. We will update the parents at the airport, prior to departure, and again after the completion of the transport. If there is incident at the place of initial intervention, we will provide parents with updates every 1 to 2 hours until the teen is calm. If the teen requires our transport associates to utilize the assistance of law enforcement at the airport or if anything happens out of the plans discussed prior to the transport, parents will be notified immediately. We will also notify parents immediately if any changes in flight or travel times have changed.
- We will also maintain constant communication with the chosen program placement for the teen. We will notify the program immediately of any changes of time arrival.
- We provide a written transport report to each teen program intake representative at the time of drop off. This allows us to notify the teen program of any concerns or incidents that took place during the transport, without alarming the teen.
- We take care of all travel arrangements to ensure the safest and most recommended methods of travel transportation.
- All of the vehicles used during the transport contain child locks on the back doors and the assistant youth transport associate rides next to the teen to talk to and effectively supervise the teen.
- New Start Transports has a perfect teen transport track record.
- Dr. Phil has used and recommended our service!
- Our marketing staff makes an effort to personally visit and tour all of the programs we market our teen transport services to.
- We carry insurance specific to the transporting of teens to programs. To learn more about why this is so important, please click here.
- New Start Transports is incorporated in the state of Utah.
We provide each parent, family member, and teen with the highest level of comfort and confidence available during the youth transport, a time of potential crisis and fear. If you do not feel that we have effectively expressed this in the above content, please Contact Us for more reassurance!
