I have worked with youth for over 20 years in various private and public programs. I began working with youth for the state of Utah as a youth counselor in 1990 and later as a Parole Officer. In 1996 I became the Program Director for A Better Way in Samoa and later Academic Director for Paradise Cove until 2001. In 2002 I returned to Provo, Utah where I continued to work as a Parole Officer/Case Manager. I received my Bachelor of Science in Recreation Management with a Minor in Youth Leadership from Brigham Young University, Provo, in 1991. I am in the process of returning to school for a Master in Social Work.
I enjoy working with youth because of my love for them and my willingness to change their lives in some small ways. I feel that I can relate to what they are going through because of my past experience as a youth. I am great listener and feel that our youth need someone that will listen to them rather than only counsel them. I also love working with youth because I have experienced different ways of dealing with them through my own teenage children. I currently have a 20 year old son and an 18 year daughter who have both graduated high school and are currently living on their own attending college. The experiences that I have learned as a counselor and as a parent have definitely helped improve my skills and patience to work with our youth.
I have worked in public and private youth programs for over 20 years. I have sat on various youth boards and committees in both the private and public sector. I am currently the head coach of the freshmen and assistant coach to the varsity football program at our high school. I also serve as the Unit Commissioner of our Boy Scout Unit in our area. I am happily married to my wife of 20 years with six beautiful children, four boys and two girls. I was born in Samoa and raised in Hawaii before moving to Provo, Utah, to attend Brigham Young University on a football scholarship.
I have been working with New Start Transportation for about 2 years now and have enjoyed the experience of assisting families with transporting their children to various youth programs. Mr. Clint Hardy is aware of the needs of each family and their situation. He is willing to do the best that he can to provide that assistance and support to those families in times of need. He truly cares about each child and their situation because he has experienced it first hand when he was picked up and transported to troubled teen program in Samoa during his struggle as a teenager. So when he tells you that he knows what you are going through, he truly means that because he has experienced it himself.
