We Provide Travel Arrangements For The Youth Transport
At New Start Transports, we understand that hiring a professionally licensed and insured youth transport company may not be easy. To help make this an easier and more time effective process, we provide all of the travel arrangements and recommendations to ensure the safest transport for the youth. We also provide more cost effective options for parents and/or clients that have a limited financial budget. All travel arrangements are made as a professional courtesy to our clients and we do not charge any additional mark up fees for our services. In some circumstances, parents may choose options which may include the service fee of a travel agency separate from New Start Transports. The transport travel arrangements that we take care of may include the following:
- Airplane Travel - Airplane travel arrangements are used for most youth that are being transported out of state. This may depend on the length of the drive from the place of pick up to the destination program. When traveling with an at-risk youth, we always recommend nonstop flight arrangements or the least amount of connections as possible. We do offer connecting flight options for parents that request more cost effective options. However, the safety of the at-risk youth is our number one concern. We want to provide the safest and most time effective transport possible. We also specialize in coordinating with and recommending airlines that may work better with at-risk teens.
- Rental Transport Vehicle - In most of our long distant or out of state transports, rental cars are used to provide some of the transportation of the youth. We take into consideration that many of the youth we are transporting may be anxious and/or upset during the time they may be in the rental car. We always try to rent at-least a full-sized car and up for safety and comfort purposes of the youth and our staff. We always purchase the rental car insurance coverage offered by the car rental services. We only rent vehicles with window and door child locks to provide additional safety. We also rent cars with navigation systems included to provide GPS roadside assistance when traveling in unfamiliar areas. We also maintain corporate accounts with the major rental car agencies to ensure the best rental rates available. If we utilize a rental transport vehicle, we also charge for the cost of gas. If you have a specific preference as to which type of car is used for the transport of a teen, please notify our youth transport office in advance of the transport.
- Company or Approved Associate Transport Vehicle - Depending on the location of pick up and also the response time needed to respond if we are providing a ground transport only, our associates may use a company or approved transport vehicle. When using a company or approved associate transport vehicle, we charge $0.50 per mile. This calculation includes the gas reimbursement. All transport vehicles are four doors and must contain window and door child locks. The transport vehicle will also be clean and free of any access clutter inside and/or outside of it.
- Hotel - In many out of state transports, our youth transport associates arrive into the place of pick up the night before, depending on travel and transport arrangements. We provide a hotel room for our transport staff if they have more than two hours of down time. We are aware that some companies may have their transport associates tough it out in the renal car or pick up earlier. However, we understand the importance of our staff receiving as much rest prior to the intervention and transport of an at-risk teen. We also like our staff to be in secure and safe location throughout the time of transport. In situations where we receive enough notice, we will have our transport associates arrive earlier the day before transport to receive more rest. We do not charge for the extra time in these circumstances as this is more a convenience for our staff. Our hotel room rates are very reasonable. Transport staff of same sex can use same room and staff of opposite sex must each use separate rooms.
- Food - Food is definitely something that will be needed by the youth and transport staff during the transport. We calculate in a reasonable food expense in advance depending on the total time of the transport.
- Parking - Our transport associates often must pay for airport parking and may incur other parking fees depending on the location we pick the youth up from.
- Tolls - We always take into account that some transports may require a small budget for the use of toll roads. This is usually a small fee if any.
As each youth transport we provide has unique needs, we will take care of all the appropriate travel arrangements to meet the needs of each situation. We know that the costs of placing a child in a program may not be cheap; we specialize in providing the safest and most cost effective travel options available. Please feel free to contact us with any further travel or youth transport questions!
